- Kansas City Support -
Message from Janet Northcott, coordinator
of the Southside Group:
We average about 20 people
each meeting. Anyone
interested in mood disorders is
welcome to attend. We focus
more on wellness and recovery
than on illness and symptoms.
We share strategies for
managing our lives, getting
healthy and staying that way.
We share hints for finding the
best medication and
communicating effectively with
doctors and therapists. We have
never known anyone to maintain
recovery by just popping some
pills. Recovery also involves
learning new coping and
relaxation skills, changing
attitudes, beliefs and
expectations.
No need to call first, just come
by and visit with us.
Remember, emotions are
signals, not commands. Now is
not forever. Gratitude is a
powerful healing force.
Here are
a couple handy links..
The National DMDA is a site
with a lot of info on bipolar and unipolar issues.
You might also want to visit
Health Center
for information on medications.
